Living Life as an Experiment

Embracing Change: My Life Experiment Begins

Do you ever feel like life is forcing change toward something new, but you're not quite sure where you will even land? Wondering what is next, when the rug is pulled from under you? That’s exactly where I found myself today, when I was contemplating the recent news that my company is restructuring and my job is going to be eliminated. It started with a wave of sensitivity, triggered by the mix of life’s challenges—and then a shift happened. Let me take you on the journey that brought me here, to the start of an exciting life experiment.

Signs from the Universe

Driving home after this long day, feeling the weight of it all, I turned on the radio. The song that greeted me? “No Need to Worry” by Folk Implosion. I felt it was my sign the universe was literally telling me “Not to Worry”  Later, during a walk with my pup, I asked the universe for guidance: “Something’s got to give. Please help me find a way to make it work out.” And then, as if on cue, Olivia Newton-John’s “Magic” played.

That song always reminds me to reconnect with my inner magic. When I hear it, I imagine it’s my inner being singing to me, reminding me that I am magic, capable of creating and embracing whatever comes my way. In that moment, I felt a HUGE shift in my emotions—a spark of curiosity: What if I could embrace change instead of resisting it?

Standing on the Edge

I started thinking: What if I could stand on the edge of change—on purpose—and welcome it as an adventure? Life has been throwing some curveballs lately. My son and fiancee, who are my roommates, want us to move now, for us to all save on rent. My son’s desire for change felt like a trigger, stirring up old feelings from my childhood of moving too often. I’ve always craved stability, but what if this is an opportunity to let go of that fear and embrace the unknown?

I’ve applied for a new job within my company that would allow me to work remotely while staying connected to the centers I love. At the same time, I’m learning so many skills in my current role that could open doors to future opportunities. Change is coming—whether it’s a new home, a new job or something I haven’t even imagined yet. What if I stop resisting and start daydreaming about all the ways it could work out beautifully?

Living Life as an Experiment

One of the ways I’ve learned to navigate challenges is by treating life as an experiment. Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, I’m shifting my mindset to curiosity: What if I embrace change and see where it leads?

For now, my experiment has a timeline. I’ll let life unfold and reassess in April. The last day of my current role is March 31, and until then, I’m going to approach each day with openness and optimism. This is my chance to dream, explore, and trust that the universe has my back.

Sharing the Journey

I’ve decided to document this journey, not just for myself but in hopes that it resonates with others. Life is full of twists and turns, and sometimes we just need a reminder that we’re not alone. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about what’s next, maybe this experiment will inspire you to try your own.

Here’s to embracing change, reconnecting with our magic, and standing on the edge—not with fear, but with excitement. Let’s see where this adventure takes us.

What’s your experiment? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences as we navigate this together.
